Hi everyone, it’s been a while since the last update. In fact, I think this might be the longest I’ve been without updating the website. Never fear though, I’m not dead, just working intensely as usual.
I was supposed to start on Brad Bird’s Ray Gunn in January, but Hollywood being what it is, my start date has been postponed by a few months. This is OK by me as I continue the huge task I’ve set for myself to single-handedly animate the Saga of Rex feature film. I’ve made massive progress and I’m finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, although it is still a mighty long tunnel.
I worked on a feature last fall, and that film will be coming out later this year, or maybe next year (I’m not too sure). It’s a fantastic little movie. More on that later.
This was my first public signing since the pandemic, and it was a fun one. The weather was fantastic and I met so many interesting people. I had a fantastic time talking about books, comics and animation to everyone who came by for a chat. We gave 15% of our sales to NAMI (a charity that helps people with mental illness) which I'm sure made them happy. All and all, a great day!
Signing at Fairhaven Funky Bizarre Bazaar July 28, 2022
I really haven't done any signings in a while, but I agreed to do this one. It sounds fun and funky. Right up my alley. I'll bring all my bizarre books and comics, and a few sculptures, and I'll be happy to answer questions and talk about my Saga of Rex feature film.
Saturday, August 6th from 11am to 5pm is the 2nd annual Fairhaven Funky Bizarre Bazaar! Come and join us for a festive day of art and entertainment. We’re filling the Village Green with creative recreators, costumers, up-cyclers, collectors of the funky and unusual, musicians, writers, and artists. Here we go, another long stretch on The Saga of Rex that comes to a pause. I’ve been working full time on the film for the past year (I must have at least 4-5 years of full-time work already invested in the film at this point), and I now have half the feature completely cleaned-up and inbetweened with both characters and FX animation. I was going to keep going this way for another 2 years straight until the film's completion, but two projects came my way that were just too hard to pass on.
The first film is a feature documentary (I’ll be providing visual effects for it) and the other is a Brad Bird film, a director I always enjoy working with. I have committed to a limited time on both of these films so that I am able to return full time on The Saga of Rex in roughly 8 months (May 2023). I believe this will be the last interruption before I embark on the last leg of this epic journey I’ve been on for so many years.

In my last post, I mentioned a small freelance gig I did for Comedy Central, that I couldn't pass on. Well, now that the series is out, I'm allowed to talk about it.
In November 2021, Director/Actor Jack Howard, invited me to design and animate on a Comedy Central sketch. He indicated that in this particular sketch, they would be paying homage to the “taste visualization” I created for the film Ratatouille back in 2007, and asked me if I would like to tackle this assignement. How could I say no?
